REMNANTS
A highly asymmetrical dueling card game where you fight for ownership of the chaotic realms left behind after the collapse of the Zal Empire.
What Makes Remnants Unique?
1. The 4-Point Loyalty System
You don’t just pick a faction; you distribute 4 Loyalty Points to dictate your deck’s allegiance. Your Loyalty tier doesn’t just unlock cards—it grants you passive, game-breaking rules. Go all-in on one faction for raw power, or split your Loyalty to engineer a volatile hybrid engine.
2. The “Speed Floor” Reply Chain
Every card and activatable effect has a SPD (Speed) stat. When an action occurs, it sets the “Speed Floor.” To respond (Reply), your card must have a SPD equal to or greater than the current floor. The stack is a tactical bidding war where faster cards overwrite slower plays.
3. Geometry & Duration (DUR)
Your board is divided into Front slots (protecting your Player and base) and Back slots. Furthermore, cards feature a DUR (Duration) stat—a ticking clock that degrades every turn. When DUR hits 0, cards are destroyed, forcing a dynamic, ever-changing battlefield.
The Seven Factions: Playing 7 Different Games
When you sit down to play Remnants, you are clashing entirely different game engines against one another.
Kingdom
A traditional army relying on sturdy walls, foot soldiers, and devastating mages.
Sorcerers
Masters of particle manipulation who turn everything around them into pure Mana.
Machines
A replicating, automated population fueled by arcane rocks and flowing water.
Reanimators
Necromancers who subvert death, treating the graveyard as a perfectly organized armory.
Arena
Bloodsport combatants turning the battlefield into a violent spectacle for the crowd.
Gene Hunters
Nomadic, hybrid thieves searching for exotic DNA to build the ultimate combination.
Chronites
Time-weavers who pay for explosive present action by erasing their potential future.
Zal
The Old Empire remnants. (General card pool options powered by a unique “Tax” cost mechanic).
Why You Should Play (and Playtest) Remnants
Unprecedented Modularity
With 0-to-4 Loyalty point distributions, the deckbuilding possibilities are staggering. Depending on your Loyalties, you can mix resource gain and bonus draw power, gain access to powerful cards, or piece together a crazy combo.
No “Dead” Cards
Because of mechanics like Sorcerer’s MP conversion, Chronite’s discard-to-pay system, and Reanimator’s graveyard-summoning, there is almost always a tactical use for the cards in your hand, eliminating typical TCG “mana screw” frustration.
